Johnstown police say a local man is behind bars, nearly three years after he allegedly robbed a credit union in the city.

Police say Derrick Smith, 33, was taken into custody last week on charges related to the robbery of the Franklin Johnstown Federal Credit Union in February of 2020.

Authorities say Smith allegedly robbed the credit union, located along Vine Street, and made off with over $1,100 in unmarked bills.

According to the affidavit, police say Smith was finally identified through a photo on social media.

Smith is being housed at the Cambria County Prison, on charges of robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, making terroristic threats and reckless endangerment, according to online court records.

His bail has been set at $150,000.

Editor's note: WJAC has reached out to the Cambria County Prison, numerous times, for Mr. Smith's mugshot but have not yet received it.
