Local restaurant to expand
Cambria County, Pa. (WJAC) — Tucked away behind the Cambria County War Memorial is what some call the best kept secret in Johnstown; Rayne’s Backyard BBQ.
Owner Terrance Ballard gave Johnstown residents a taste of his culinary talents four year ago when he started in the parking lot of the Elk’s Lodge. From there he expanded to his mobile food truck and restaurant at the War Memorial.
“BBQ is just so wonderful it can be any cut of meat it can be economical it can be higher end cut but it all just comes together. I call it BBQ love that’s my motto,” said Ballard.
Now, the business named after his daughter Rayne is set to expand again with a new restaurant in Indiana set to open on the fourth of July. Ballard says his recipe for success is his customers.
“They have been a truly tremendous blessing to my business, and I want to thank them for that I truly appreciate y’all for all you do for me and my family and my staff,” said Ballard.
Ballard, who began cooking when he was a teenager, says getting in the kitchen every day still puts a smile on his face when he sees people enjoy his food.
“We’re truly blessed to live in Johnstown and now if you ever go to Indiana...what more can a person ask for in my lifetime just to have this wonderful opportunity,” said Ballard.
