Hotelier Sean MacPherson Lists John Woolf Home for $2.95 Million (Exclusive) The Hollywood Repor
Curved walls, facing fireplaces and a swimming pool that practically laps up to the living room are all signature statements of John Woolf, a celebrated architect who designed homes for George Cukor, Cary Grant, John Wayne, David O. Selznick and Barbara Hutton.
Sean MacPherson’s John Woolf-designed home bears all the hallmarks of architect, who is credited with creating the Hollywood Regency style. The 2,200-square-foot home, which MacPherson has just listed for $2.95 million, was built in 1939 and added on by the architect in 1963.

MacPherson, who was raised in Malibu, who went to USC and is married to GuestofaGuest.com owner Rachelle Hurska, has built a reputation on creating some of New York’s most famous boutique hotels including Martime Hotel, Bowery Hotel and The Jane, frequented by the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Blake Lively, and Kate Winslet. His latest project, The Marlton Hotel, located in Greenwich Village, just opened September 1 and comes with plenty of counter-culture cred: Jack Kerouc and Lenny Bruce both stayed there.
MacPherson purchased the Hollywood Hills home 15 years ago and even wrote a New York Times piece in 2002 in which he gave high praise to Woolf for his “high ceilings, perfect proportions, grand living rooms and multiple fireplaces and dressing rooms.”
MacPherson has rented the cul-de-sac home for five years and has now put the two-bedroom, two-bath house with underground parking for up to eight cars, on the market.
Jeff Kohl of The Agency has the listing.
