Drake's Hearing Aid - Days of Our Lives

When John was talking to Diana they shot him from behind and I saw something black in the back of his left ear. On further inspection, it is a small hearing aid; in fact a tiny white wire runs from it into his ear and I also saw it when they showed a close up of his face, left side. Never noticed it before, of course is silver hair covers it nicely. I wonder if this is a result of that accident he had I think in Oct 2016 when there was pyrotechnics around the coffin Orpheius had Marlene in which caused John to be off canvas. If so, pity that this had to happen while he was just shooting a scene.

Drake is my age. Many of us eventually use hearing aids without having suffered traumatic head injuries.

Actually he got hit on the side of his head and lost his hearing completely in 1 ear when he was in baseball when he was much younger. He was drafted for the then Ft. Lauderdale Yankies. The other ear he has to have amplified via hearing aid now…before he turned his head more to hear better. There is a lady on the Drake Hogestyn fan page on facebook that knows all about it. But no, the hearing loss doesn’t have to do with his injury on set a few years ago. He’s had it for a long time. I’ll ask her again for clarification.

Yes, this is true. Drake wanted to play professional baseball and took to acting when he was injured. I think it’s cool they tied his son Paul’s story as a pro baseball pitcher into DOOL.
