Black Ops 3 Zombies Chronicles Confirmed and Dated for May 16th

While the rumors had been confirmed last week that Treyarch was working on a remaster for their Zombies modes from previous Call of Duty games, today we get more official details on what Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles actually is.

Eight maps in total, the remastered collection of the Zombies modes include some fan-favorite maps from the Treyarch developed Call of Duty games: World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops 2. A press release from Activision says that the visuals, audio and gameplay have been remastered for this release.

The eight maps in Zombies Chronicles include: Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, Kino Der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon, and Origins.

Some differences between Zombies Chronicles and the original release will be that this game lets players use custom weapons, which includes guns from Black Ops 3 that weren’t available when they originally released. As was also rumored the Gobble Gum and Liquid Divinium systems that were introduced in Black Ops 3 will also be in the remaster. A list of new GobbleGum can be found below:

• Board Games (MEGA)
  5 full rounds
  Repairing one board at a window repairs all boards at that window.
• Flavor Hexed (MEGA)
  Auto-activates immediately
  Selects a random Mega, Rare, or Ultra that is not in the player’s loadout. If the player doesn’t bleed out or take a new Bubble Gumball from the machine, this will repeat a second time when the first has run out.
• Board to Death (RARE)
  5 minutes
  Zombies within 15 feet of a repaired board are killed.
• Extra Credit (RARE)
  4 Activations
  Spawns a personal points powerup worth 1,250 points.
• Idle Eyes (RARE)
  3 Activations, 30 seconds each
  All zombies ignore all players and stand idle.
• Soda Fountain (RARE)
  5 Activations when purchasing a perk
  Perk purchase limit is ignored. When purchasing a perk, get a random one for free.
• Power Vacuum (ULTRA)
  4 full rounds
  Powerups drop more often.
• Reign Drops (ULTRA)
  2 Activations
  Spawns one of each of the nine core powerups When activated drops a Nuke, Double Points, Fire Sale, Insta-Kill, Random Perk, Max Ammo, Death Machine, Carpenter, and Blood Money.
• Eye Candy (WHIMSICAL)
  4 Activations
  Overrides the colors you see. Creates color overlay that will highlight zombies (and some non-zombie enemies) in a color that can be changed by re-activating. Colors include Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. Activating a 5th time deactivates the Gum.
• Tone Death (WHIMSICAL)
  Activates each Nth zombie kill
  A set of random silly zombie ambient sounds and death sounds playing instead of the normal ones.

For those that did purchase the Season Pass for Black Ops 3, it’s worth noting that this is not going to be included in that. Also, Zombies Chronicles is not a standalone game. You will need your copy of Black Ops 3 to play Zombies Chronicles.

Zombies Chronicles Price and Release Date

Zombies Chronicles releases first on the PlayStation 4 for $29.99 on May 16th.  No official date has been given for the release of Zombies Chronicles on PC or Xbox One.
